Brazilian Journal
of Oncology
(BJO)

Sobre o periódico

The Brazilian Journal of Oncology (BJO) is a quarterly journal on oncology and related areas jointly published by the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology (SBOC),Brazilian Society of Surgical Oncology (SBCO) and the Brazilian Society of Radiotherapy (SBRT).

The journal was launched in March 2017 with the goal of disseminating knowledge in Brazil; valuing the outcomes of national research; encouraging the participation of professionals from these disciplines in studies; forming a critical mass around the challenges and possibilities of oncology in Brazil and in the world; promoting reflections and discussions based on scientific evidence on the access and quality of patient care, as well as on the public policies on the prevention and treatment of cancer in Brazil.

Planning and
doing together

The publication of the first issue of the Brazilian Journal of Oncology (BJO) is more than the launch of a Brazilian journal on Oncology. It is, in fact, the consolidation of the union of the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology (SBOC),Brazilian Society of Surgical Oncology (SBCO) and the Brazilian Society of Radiotherapy (SBRT) around a shared ideal: building a scientific journal that represents the strength of this field of medicine in Brazil and that is able, at the same time, to be an effective means to further strengthen it.

The organizations in charge and the editorial board also work so that BJO is a new and important forum to exchange information among the professionals involved in cancer research and care of cancer patients. Thus, the multidisciplinary aspect is key.

Considering that the publication on an indexed journal can help build an academic career for our researchers and support research funding, the peer review process has been adopted because it is one of the most significant requirements of world class platforms to disseminate scientific knowledge.

Additionally, BJO is an open access journal to enable those who are interested in reading, downloading, copying, distributing, printing, and searching full texts of the papers for academic purposes.
